About Western

The Western Beaver County School District was established in 1963 and receives students from the boroughs of Ohioville, Industry, and Glasgow. These boroughs are in a rural locality covering 34.5 square miles.

Approximately 850 students are enrolled in our schools. There are three school buildings in our districts, all designated as single-floor structures. These buildings include Fairview Elementary (housing grades K-4), Snyder Elementary (housing grades 5 and 6), and Western Beaver Junior/Senior High School (housing grades 7 - 12).

In addition to having 75 full-time faculty members, our staff is comprised of a librarian, a librarian aide, two reading specialists, a Gifted Coordinator, a Gifted Support Teacher, nine teacher aides, and a Director of Information Services. The average teacher-student ratio is 1:16. The average teacher salary is $42,420, with the average years of teaching being 19.5.

The Western Beaver County School District is in the third year of its six-year Strategic Plan. Our annual goals are to continue to build a foundation for a performance-based educational program. This plan permits students the opportunity to demonstrate learning in addition to simply receiving classroom instruction. Our academic program is based on the Commonwealth's expectations regarding standards-based education. By using these expectations as a springboard, our curriculum has prospered to include Advanced Placement classes, inquiry-based learning, and an inclusion-based program for both Special Needs and accelerated students. Finally, we have a very active community involvement including an active PTO and Boosters organization who are involved in many fundraising and school activities, including the recent construction of the Fairview Elementary playground.
