Accelerated Reader

Throughout each nine week period students read stories and take tests on them in the Accelerated Reader program. Points are earned for each classroom depending on the number of tests taken and passed throughout the grading period. Monthly classroom progress can be followed on the AR bulletin board directly outside the library. 

Thanks to funding from our PTO, at the end of each nine weeks the top two point earners from each classroom are treated to a special luncheon with Mr. Smochko, our elementary principal. 

PTO also supports the Accelerated program by providing merchandise that students can purchase with the points they have earned throughout the year. Students have the opportunity to bank points to save for a large item or spend them at the end of each nine weeks on smaller items.
