The School Counseling Department at Western Beaver Consists of Dr. Carol A. Thomas, School Counselor, Mrs. Halfhill, Guidance Secretary, and Ms. Laura DelVecchio, Perkins Counselor. Dr. Thomas is a graduate of Duquesne University where she earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, and a Masters Degree in Education, majoring in School Counseling. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pittsburgh where she majored in Natural Science. Mrs. Halfhill is a graduate of Western Beaver Jr./Sr. High School and has worked in the Guidance Department for over 20 years.
The Counseling Office provides a wide variety of services to over 500 students on a multitude of issues, including the following:
- Assist students in course selection;
- Career counseling;
- Academic counseling;
- Distribution of information concerning the PSAT, SAT & ACT;
- Assist in completion of the college selection process, college applications, visitation arrangements, letters of recommendation, college essays, general financial aid information, etc
