Thankful Heart from Home



Thankful Heart from Home group is currently making almost 100 craft items for the Yellow Ribbon Girls. These cute Hawaiian Marshmallow men will be sent to our troops in July with their monthly care packages. This team of girls will also be collecting items for our troops in the near future. Stay tuned to our web page and your child’s backpack for upcoming information .

Dear Parents,

    Service Learning, a class at the high school, is asking for your help. We are working to support our troops by working with the Yellow Ribbon Girls “Thankful Heart From Home.” Attached to this letter is a list of items that we are trying to collect for our troops. We have broken it down by grade level so we don’t get too many of one item. We would greatly appreciate it if every child could bring in at least one item from the list. That would mean our collection would bring in over 1,000 items. The Yellow Ribbon Girls is an organization that helps to support the troops around the world. They also help the communities that the soldiers become a part of by asking for school supplies for the local children. We may take on this project at a later date. The Yellow Ribbon Girls began when MAJ John Stich was deployed as part of the operation Iraqi freedom in early 2003, he asked his family to get involved. They only started with a few yellow ribbons and pins, and have not stopped yet with over 9,000 bows and pins distributed in every size imaginable. With the help of donations, they were able to ship over 4,000 packages to the solders so far. If you have any questions about the project or know any local soldiers you would like to add to the Yellow Ribbon Girls donation list, please contact the Service Learning room at 724-643-8500 ext 1014 or 1018.
