Common Sense Ratings and Reviews
"Our in-depth editorial reviews provide detailed information on educational apps and teaching tips so you can decide what's best for your classroom."
This is a free service from nonprofit Common Sense Education. While the site states that it is meant for educators, as a parent I have found it useful in locating worthwhile and appropriate apps, games, and sites for my own children as well. :)
Use the filters to sort by grade level, subject, platform, and more. -

FreeRice
Freerice is a non-profit website that is owned by and supports the United Nations World Food Programme. My students love working at this site and watching their grains of rice add up to bowls and bowls as they are learning and practicing new words or concepts. You can choose to practice English vocabulary or switch to over a dozen other topics including foreign languages, art history, chemistry, mathematics, etc. As you learn the items, the level automatically adjusts to fit your needs.
